I was with a group of women one day, and one of my friends shared a dream. In her real life, she grew up on a family farm, but currently, the farm is in terrible shape and needs to be bulldozed. So, in her dream, the farm is fully restored, new, alive. Yet, there are bombed-out buildings encroaching upon the property, threatening. She described them as a house of cards fallen, burning, and destroyed. Yet, in her dream, the property was not touched and the barn/home was restored. I was deeply touched by her dream. Arriving in my anger and bitterness, her words gave me hope and respite. Earlier, I had been reading in Ephesians 3 about God's love and how He can do abundantly more than we ask or dream, according to His power at work in us. The barn outline is made out of tape-measure paper, which signifies the Ephesians passage, talking about the height, depth, width, and breadth of God's love. The house-of-cards image hit me deeply because that is a description I have used often to explain my feelings about the seen and the unseen. Sometimes things seem so real and perfect on the outside, but if they are not based on the truth of God and scripture, they will fall like a house of cards. Also included is text from Psalm 16 and Exodus 14. |
